Recently I went to the MAC store for returning my mac empty containers and to get a free lipstick so I found out this new launch M.A.C velvetease lip pencil which actually looked like retractable lip crayon.
Now everyone is doing this matte crayon lipsticks its like every single brand
has to have this. Previously MAC got with this retro matte liquid lipstick and
now its their newly launched limited collection velvetease lip crayons. They
come in 10 different shades like their usual pinks red and oranges, what I
liked was only one of this shade FROLIC it’s a matte mid tone peachy nude
color. This color has a little sheen to it which I loved it gave a little pink
tint to it when I applied on lips. It looks lovely on fair skin tones.
Packaging comes in opaque black retractable tube with colored cap and base. They are free from sharpening fuss. I liked that they are not to chubby like Clinique lipsticks and neither thin like a pencil. I can say they are very much comparable to sugar cosmetics matte as hell crayon and nars lipcrayons.
Frolic is more like a satin to matte finish like you really
need to exfoliate your lips for a proper application. The
pigmentation is fair enough. If you have dark lips or pigmented ones this shade
would be complete NO.
It doesn’t contain any fragrance. Like I miss that M.a.c
signature fragrance. The staying power is much less when compared to other
matte lipsticks. But once they set they look complete matte almost
transfer proof & kiss proof. And doesn’t even stain lips. it does not dry out your
lips. They also don’t accentuate fine lines. This velvetease do bleed and smudge around little bit. Frolic doesn’t
provide much coverage until unless you have no pigmented lips. Frolic looks
almost like a peachy natural lip color. It almost feels nothing after
application. I would like using this more on a everyday base when I don’t want
to put any lipstick. I am not highly impressed with this lip pencils. They also
settle into fine lines and dry patches are more visible if your lips are not exfoliated.
The application goes bit streaky when applied on lip
balm so its better to blot and apply. The color is not so buildable.
Overall I am disappointed as they are expensive and does not
make it worth. I would rather go for their normal range of lipsticks. I
wouldn’t repurchase it again. The shade is beautiful I really liked that it had
peachy pink sheen which gave a nice velvet finish, But I wish it could be more
rich in pigmentation and they could have some more pretty uncommon shades.
Still if you are a hoarder for matte lip crayons go for some darker shade and
do try it on your lips before purchasing them.
Comment down if you have already tried them.
